We are slowly approaching the first Major of the 2017-18 season and we’re thrilled to reveal our two direct invites - TI7 winners Team Liquid and their TI7 grand final opponents Newbee! It comes as no surprise that both teams have stuck with their full TI7 rosters after impressive performances in Seattle and with a bit of luck, we might get to see that highly anticipated TI7 grand final rematch at ESL One Hamburg 2017 powered by Intel.
Known for his calm and collected composure, KuroKy left the TI7 stage with tears of happiness in his eyes after leading Team Liquid to their memorable TI7 victory. Now, he’s ready to drive his team forward to do the impossible, become two-time TI winners! And the start of their TI8 journey might just be the second occasion to make their fearless leader a bit teary-eyed. After all he’ll be playing in front of a roaring home crowd that will surely give their German TI winner a reception he’ll never forget.
Newbee have won a lot of fans in the Western scene after their TI7 performance, despite knocking crowd-favorites Evil Geniuses into the lower bracket in front of their NA fans. Faith only barely missed out on becoming the only player to win two Internationals while the team’s overly agreeable Spanish snake, Sccc, is quickly growing a huge fanbase. Together for almost a year now in the volatile Chinese scene, they have the chance to win their first ESL One after coming incredibly close at ESL One Genting early in the year.
With our two direct invites in the books, we now get to look forward to the regional open qualifiers to determine the final six teams. It’s not too late to sign up for your chance to compete in Hamburg’s Barclaycard Arena. For further qualifier updates and coverage, be sure to follow ESL Dota 2 on both Twitter and Facebook.
